Our primary
goal at Dances With Dogs
Retrievers is to breed the best quality bloodline and temperament
and produce healthy,
happy, hand-raised
puppies, to breed the perfect companion, the perfect
addition to any family or working/service environment. Our
puppies are bred for wonderful dispositions and
temperaments to provide great companionship. Socialization
and attention at a young age is vital and we live by this
standard at Dances With Dogs Retrievers. You will not find
more loyal, affectionate, trustworthy companions.
In every litter, in every breed, there are a multitude of personalities. Every puppy displays certain personality traits from only a few hours old. The general temperament of the Labrador Retriever and the Golden Retriever is that of loyalty, devotion, love and friendship. In each litter there is the dog best acclimated to a family setting, and there are those with more energy that are best suited for the hunting companion, contrary to popular belief, not every retriever is accepting to loud noises or likes to swim. Some dogs enjoy the competition of Field Trial, Hunt Trial and Show events, others do not like to travel. There are those select few that are best suited for the service industry, for police work or a companion for the disabled. We at Dances With Dogs Retrievers select one puppy a year to be donated to the service organization that the puppy is best suited for. Because of our philosophy on whelping we know each and every puppies strengths and which environment they would be best suited for so we can assist in each individual persons selection. We strive to match each puppy to the buyer, whether it is a family pet, show dog, hunting dog or service dog. Not every puppy is suited to any and all jobs; they have traits that make them better at one thing or another. Our role in placement is to help determine which puppy fits the needs of the buyer. We want every placement to be the right fit, the best fit for the dog and the new owner.
We are a hands-on-kennel; each puppy is hand-raised until eight weeks of age. During that time they are introduced to a variety of situations, other dogs, traveling and moving from place to place, clapping, noises and swimming as well as being socialized by our experienced trainers and breeders. When our puppies go to their new home they are well on their way to a happy, socialized start to the next key stage of their long-term socialization skills formed between the ages of 8-weeks and 18-weeks.
The adult dogs that are raised at Dances With Dogs Retrievers and Dances with Wolfhounds are all part of the family, they each get in house time, fun time, and retrieving time, toys and balls, and lots of praise and attention.
Because of our deep love for each of our puppies that we sell, we are extremely careful to make certain that our puppies are placed in good homes. Potential buyers must posses the knowledge, ability and resources to provide a clean, safe, happy, healthy home for their new family addition. We also want to insure that our dogs will be given plenty of training, playtime, love and attention.
We do reserve the right to deny any potential buyer for any reason.
After the puppy leaves our kennel and goes to its new home, we are available for the life of the puppy for any advice or questions that may arise. As well as in the event the buyer can no longer keep the puppy due to a change of living situation, a move or financial reasons, even after growing into adulthood, we will take the dog and place it in a good and loving home, for the life of the dog.
